Recently, Facebook has announced that it's once again making changes
to the News Feed. After coming up with complicated algorithms capable of
predicting what people like and what they would like to see first, the
company has decided to actually ask its users about what they want. As a
result, the latest update gives you a more direct control over the
order in which the items are displayed in your News Feed, by offering
some revamped preferences. The changes have just starting rolling out on
the iOS version of the application, but other platforms will soon
follow.
"We’re always working to improve and personalize your News Feed experience. We know that ultimately you’re the only one who truly knows what is most meaningful to you and that is why we want to give you more ways to control what you see, " stated Facebook's Product Manager, Jacob Frantz in the Newsroom announcement. "Today we are announcing even better tools for you to actively shape and improve the experience."
So, from now on you will be able to manually select the friends and Pages you want to see first in your News Feed, directly from the service's preferences. Furthermore, the revamped settings make it easier for you to see clearly what's in your list and unfollow people or Pages that don't interest you, or reconnect with old friends that you've hidden a while back. And lastly, this recent update will also lend you a hand in finding new Pages that you may like to connect to, based on the ones you've liked in the past.
To see if you already have these latest features, go to the News Feed Preferences screen and tap the More button. In case you're interested in reading the entire Newsroom announcement, click on this link.
